Principal’s Message

To the families of Benjamin Franklin Elementary School:

Being the Principal here at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School is a dream come true for me. I have worked here nearly my entire career, teaching in grades 4 and 5, working as a Collaborative Coach and most recently as the Assistant Principal. I am extremely passionate about serving this community; there is no place I would rather be!

It is my goal to create a warm and friendly environment where ALL students can learn and feel safe doing so. This is made possible only through strong relationships between the school and its community. This is why I look forward to working with all of you this school year.

I am incredibly grateful not only for the opportunity to work with your children but with all of you! They say it takes a village to raise a child, which is a task none of us could dream of doing alone, but together we WILL achieve success. As our mission statement says, “If we believe it we will achieve it!”

Sincerely,

Kyle Skinner

Principal, Benjamin Franklin Elementary

A message from PBIS

Dear Benjamin Franklin Families,

Welcome back! We are looking forward to an exciting year with your child/children. We would like to share with you the school-wide expectations that are part of PBIS. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies.

We believe as a district:

  • All students are capable of learning
  • All students are capable of positive behaviors.

Here at Benjamin Franklin, we use the term “BE GOLD” with all the students as an expectation to be respectful, safe, and responsible at all times throughout the school day. Every month we hold assemblies that recognize role model students that have consistently demonstrated positive behavior. Classes are also recognized for working together to be safe, respectful, and responsible.

These assemblies are held every month where we recognize the students and the classes that have earned and demonstrated the “Be Gold” positive behavior goals. Parents will be notified and are encouraged to come and celebrate with your Benjamin Franklin school community.

We really appreciate your support as it takes a village to raise a child.

Sincerely,

The Benjamin Franklin PBIS Team

Mrs. Bough

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is with delight and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly-appointed Assistant Principal of Benjamin Franklin Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to be a part of this family. I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than 20 years. I have worked with students Kindergarten through twelfth grade with a variety of academic and emotional needs.

I was born and raised in Binghamton and feel great pride toward this community. My initial start in education as a student actually began here at Benjamin Franklin when I was in Pre-K. I am overjoyed to have come full circle back to where it all began for me and the pursuit of my individual goals.

I am looking forward to building positive relationships with our families, students, community and faculty to ensure the best opportunity for your children to grow and learn in a place where he or she feels greatly valued, respected, and looks forward to coming to school every day.The more energized and excited we feel as a community, the more likely it is that this will happen. We are all on the same team, rooting for the best possible future for your child, and fostering a love for learning, acceptance, confidence and social emotional success.

I want everyone to be excited about walking through our doors and agree to work together to overcome challenges, celebrate our success. Please communicate with me any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have. You may call me at 607 762 8340 ext 302 or e-mail me at boughk@binghamtonschools.org
